Carol K. Young, 76, Shelbyville

Carol K. Young, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Aperion Health Care, Waldron.

 

She was born Sept. 6, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Bryon Klingler and Alberta (Stamm) Klingler.

She was married to Robert D. Erwin and he preceded her in death in 1993. She then married Sam Young and he survives.

 

Carol is also survived by her sons, Rob Erwin and John Erwin; brother, Bob Klingler; sister, Elaine Thomure; and two grandchildren, Heidi Erwin and Katie Erwin.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert; and her sister, Melba Kotoucek.

 

Carol owned and operated the Positive Identification graphic arts company and was a graphic artist for IU working at the IUPUI campus.

 

She was a member of Crossroads Community Church. She enjoyed singing, dancing, playing piano, photography, and art. In her younger days, she enjoyed riding horses along the Mississippi River in St. Louis. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, May 10, 2020, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, only 25 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a given time. Funeral home staff will monitor social distancing and the number of people in the building.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020, at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. The public is invited to attend and are advised to follow COVID-19 guidelines.

 

The funeral service will also be live streamed through the Murphy-Parks Funeral Service website.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
