Juanita Ruth Basey, 94, of Shelbyville

Juanita Ruth Basey, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020
at her residence.

 

Born November 7, 1926 in Shelbyille, she was the daughter of Otis Denney and Zella
Mae (Lockridge) Denney.  She married Joseph L. Basey on September 2, 1949 and
he preceded her on November 6, 2011.

 

Survivors include 2 sons- Bruce Cary Basey (wife Sharon Rae) and Steven Joseph
Basey (wife Sharon Rose), both of Shelbyville; one sister Joan Eddleman of Naples,
Florida; 5 grandchildren- Anna Blocher, Adam Basey, Bradley Basey, Brian Basey,
Bailey Bassett; 9 great grandchildren, and 5 step grandchildren.  She was preceded 
in death by her parents, her spouse,  a brother Omer Denney, 4 sisters- Ona Mae
Burton, Mary Catherine Green, Bonnie Lou Humphrey, and Matilda Rose Hassinger.

 

Mrs. Basey was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Shelbyville High
School in 1946.  She had been employed as a floral clerk with the local Kroger Grocery
for several years, and had previously worked as a switchboard operator/personnel clerk
at Admiral Corp. for 7 years.  She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and
the Eagles Auxiliary.

 

Juanita enjoyed flowers, playing Texas Hold Em, crocheting, watching game shows
on TV, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

 

Graveside services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Forest Hill
Cemetery, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. 

 

No visiting hours will be observed.


Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or OUR Hospice of South
Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
