Robert Allen "Bob" Piercy, 85, of Shelbyville

Robert Allen “Bob” Piercy, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, January 25, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born March 28, 1935, in Wayne County, Kentucky, the son of Reuben “Cuba” and Ethel (Morgan) Piercy.

 

Robert married Imogene Pyles and she preceded him in death after a battle with Leukemia in 1958. He later married Nona Doris Hill on November 11, 1962, and she survives.

 

In addition to Nona, Bob is survived by his two sons with Imogene, Robert Piercy and wife, Peggy, of Somerset, Kentucky, and Steve Piercy and wife, Nancy, of Shelbyville. Bob and Nona have three daughters, Brenda Rice and husband, Kenny, Nancy Turner and husband, Patrick, and Barbara Piercy and wife, Stephanie, all of Shelbyville; and a son, Paul Piercy and wife, Julia, of Arlington. Bob was the grandfather of Jaime Piercy, Jessica Wiles and husband, Marty, Jim Wisker and wife, Amy, Scott Wisker and wife, Tori, Tammy Etter and husband, Rob, Dusty Rice, Jody West, Josh Chappelow, Crystal Thomas, Amy Turner and Casey Turner; and great-grandfather of Lexus Boston, Jerimya Boston, Evan Witte, Megan Wisker, Anthony Wisker, Leah Wisker, Abbigail Turner, Aliyah Dunbar, Blake Chappelow, Toby West and a set of twin babies due in August. He also had numerous nieces and nephews. He also thought a lot of Jeff Grubb and wife, Kim, of Shelbyville, often referring to him as the adopted son.

 

Bob was also preceded in death by his parents. He was the youngest of ten children, all preceding him in death, Larry, Lyle, Andy, Otto, Hamia, Lizzie, Maude, Nina, and Beulah.

 

He attended a one room schoolhouse in Cooper, Kentucky.

 

Bob formerly worked for Public Service trimming trees all over the state of Indiana. He also worked for Robert D. Marshall, as a carpenter for 43 years, retiring in 2013. He was currently working alongside his son-in-law at P.E.T. Construction.

 

He enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting wood, listening to Bluegrass music, riding the Ranger with Pat and taking country cruises. Bob loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Bob also leaves behind his cats, Roscoe, Ellie Mae, Little Girl and Pumpkin.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 10 to 11 a.m.

 

Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Blue Ridge Christian Union Church, 466 SCR 775 E, in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor James Thurman officiating.

 

Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Shelby County.
