Charles R. "Chuck" Williams, 94, of Waldron

Charles R. "Chuck" Williams, 94, of Waldron, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Heritage House of Greensburg.

 

Born May 11, 1927 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Alonzo Williams and Prudence (Mackey) Williams.  He married Betty L. (Perry) Williams on December 31, 1946 and she preceded him on  Jan. 13, 2013.

 

Survivors include 2 sons- Kevin D. Williams (wife Debbie) of Waldron, Bret A. Williams (wife Elaine) of St. Paul, daughter Kandy L. Luther of Terre Haute;  6 grandchildren- Ryan Adams (wife Stephanie), Chad Williams (wife Kim), Kip Adams (wife Joy), Eric Williams (wife Sarah), Kyle Williams (wife Brittany),  Kara Williams (Craig Wiggam); 13 grandchildren- Derek Adams, Bailey Adams, Larken Adams, Makenzie Adams, Dalen Williams, Ian Copeland, Nathan Copeland, Braylon Williams, Maleah Williams, Sydney Adams, Anna Williams, Brody Williams, Brock Nelson; and one great great grandchild Autumn Adams.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, one sister and 5 brothers.

 

Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of this area, and attended Shelbyville High School.  He was a school bus driver with Shelby Eastern Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1991, and had been a self employed barber for 33 years. 

 

He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Waldron Lodge #217 F&AM, American Legion  Post #70, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2695, Blue River Lion's Club, and a 35 year member of the American Legion Memorial Team.  He was a US Marine Corp WWII veteran, and was very proud that all six  brothers served during WWII, and all made it home safely.

 

Chuck loved playing euchre and slot machines at the casino, watching sports on tv, dining out, and he enjoyed the time spent with his family and grandchildren.  

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437Amos Road, with Rev. Beth Crouch officiating. 

 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call on Sunday evening, October 10, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.

 

Masonic rites will be held on Sunday evening at 7:30 pm, and a military graveside service will be conducted by a local veterans organization.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Memorial Team, in care of the funeral home.
