Rita Marie Addis, 63, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born August 27, 1958, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Ben and Marie (Wenning) Kesterman. On September 3, 1977, she married Donald Keith Addis, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2015.

Rita is survived by her three sons, Tony Addis of Lynnville, Brandon Addis and wife, Beth, and Jared Addis and wife, Lisa, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Donna Cronin and husband, Jim, of Ohio, and Theresa Basey of Shelbyville; brother, Dennis Kesterman and wife, Carla, of Fairland; grandchildren, Patrick, Justin, Jonah, Jonathon, Eden, Elijah, Logan and Austin; sisters-in-law, Barbara Kesterman of Shelbyville, Cheryl Tignor of Zanesville, Ohio, and Kathy Taisey of Springfield, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Tom Toll of Shelbyville; Rick Addis and wife, Karen, of Zanesville, Ohio, and Scott Addis and wife, Brandi, of Springfield, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Donald, Rita was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dale Kesterman; and sister, RoseMary Toll.

Rita graduated in 1976 from Shelbyville High School.

She worked as a service associate for Village Pantry in Shelbyville.

Rita was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She also leaves behind her cat, Bo.

A Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022, at American Legion Post No. 70, 1125 Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
