Madison Stephens scattered three hits and struck out eight to lead Eastern Hancock to a 10-0 win over Triton Central in the Class 2A, Sectional 42 championship game.

The Royals (20-4-1) scored four runs in the fourth inning when the game resumed and pushed three runs across the plate in the sixth to end the game.

Stephens improved to 14-2 this season with a 2.07 earned run average.

Lillian Fillippinie took the loss for Triton Central (11-10). The freshman surrendered 13 hits and three walks.

Fillippinie, Jayda McKee and Hailey Harris had the only hits for Triton Central, who started five freshmen and a sophomore in the championship game.

Kaylee Stewart finished 2-for-4 for Eastern Hancock with two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Caroline Stapleton, Kaylee Kline, Emma Bolding and Brooklyn Willis each had two hits for Eastern Hancock.

The Royals will host Class 2A, No. 11 Union County (26-2) Tuesday in the regional championship game. The two teams met in the 2021 regional championship game with Union County prevailing 4-2.
