Prep Report: Bulldogs pin loss on Golden Bears

Columbus North used a five-run fifth inning to secure a 13-4 victory over visiting Shelbyville on a rainy Monday night.

Zach McLean delivered six solid innings on the mound for Columbus North (9-7). He allowed six hits, all singles, and three walks while striking out seven Golden Bears. Joey Fry pitched a scoreless seventh to seal the win.

Kade McNicholas took the loss for the Golden Bears (9-8), giving up three hits and seven walks in two innings of work. Brock Kuhn pitched three innings and allowed six runs, only three were earned.

Eli Sheppard pitched the sixth inning and allowed two runs.

Luke Harmon had three hits and scored three runs for Columbus North. Connor Hensley and McLean each had two hits.

Shelbyville travels to Yorktown Wednesday.

At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears closed out their home schedule of their inaugural season with a three-set win that improved them to 4-6.

Shelbyville travels to Christel House (4-4) Thursday for its regular season finale.
