Triton Central sweeps Shelby County Track and Field Championships

Brayden Wilkins and Maddy Brown had standout performances to lead Triton Central to a sweep of the Shelby County Track and Field Championships.

Brown, a senior, won three events and added a runner-up finish to help Triton Central amass 90 points and win the girls county title on its home track in Fairland.

Morristown was runner-up at 70 with Southwestern (34) and Waldron (28) completing the field.

Brown won the 100-meter dash in 13.44 seconds. Her teammate, Farah Coen, was second in 14.02.

Brown also scored first-place points in the high jump (five feet, one inch) and long jump (15-9.5) and was second in the 200 (29.63).

Triton Central also got event wins from Brynne Auckerman (2:43.64 in 800), Hallie Schweitzer (13:39 in 3,200) and Coen (30-2.5 in shot put).

The TC quartet of Allie Griffith, Bella Ball, Kennedy Brown and Coen finished first in the 400 relay in 57.18.

Ariel Walker, Brown, Auckerman and Ball won the 1,600 relay in 4:52.47.

Morristown finished with six event wins.

Maggie Lutes took first place in the 200 (29.47) and 400 (1:04.13). Raegan Kleine was first across the finish line in the 1,600 (6:06.17), Oakleigh Goedde won the 300 hurdles (53.88) and Kindall Dorsey won the discus (84-4).

Morristown won the 3,200 relay in 11:26.94 with Katie Theobald, Grace McLaughlin, Kleine and Lutes.

Waldron’s Lillian Lozier took first place in the 100 hurdles (18.46).

 

 

Wilkins’ speed led to victories in the 100 (11.05), 200 (22.42) and the long jump (19-11). The junior also was part of Triton Central’s winning 400 relay team (45.96) with Mason Compton, Courtney Dunville and Zeke Robertson.

That helped Triton Central pull away for the team title with 74 points. Morristown was second at 60. Waldron finished third (52) and Southwestern was fourth (39).

Triton Central also got event wins from Ethan Cales (15.77 in 110 hurdles), Robertson (43.56 in 300 hurdles), William Baugh (46-9 in shot put) and Hadyn Ball (119-00 in discus).

Waldron’s Will Larrison racked up three individual victories. The sophomore won the 800 (2:11.69), the 1,600 (5:11.18) and the 3,200 (11:22.53).

Larrison collected a fourth first-place performance running with Jared Crosby, Claudio Clapsono and Max Jones in the 3,200 relay (9:35.38).

Morristown’s Cade Mahin was first across the finish line in the 400 (54.32). Mahin also helped the Yellow Jackets win the 1,600 relay (3:43.43) with Kamdyn Gaines, Wyatt Hodgen and Tyler Schonfeld.

Southwestern’s Avery Dennison won the high jump (4-10).
