Triton Central tops Morristown, Waldron to capture Shelby County Tournament title

Triton Central pulled out a hard-fought 3-1 semifinal win over Morristown Saturday then cruised to another Shelby County Softball Tournament championship with a 20-0 victory over Waldron.

Brylie Couch had four hits and four runs batted in against Waldron and allowed just one hit in a five-inning complete game shutout that improved Triton Central to 12-4 this season.

Lillian Fillippinie, Emma Stohry and Madison Collins each had two hits in the championship game. Fillippinie had four RBIs.

Waldron dropped to 3-7-1.

In the semifinal game, Rhylee Coppage limited Triton Central to six hits and one walk but the Yellow Jackets could not find her enough run support.

Triton Central starting pitcher Madi Peterson allowed four hits and one walk while striking out 11 in the win.

Fillippinie and Collins each had two hits. Fillippinie drove in two of TC’s three runs.

Coppage had two hits for Morristown (7-7).
