7 national award-winning BBQ teams to compete at Indy's All-American Ribfest

Seven national award-winning barbeque teams will compete at the All-American Ribfest in downtown Indy on July 25-28 to raise money for the Indiana Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch.

“It will be four days of hot and spicy, sweet and tangy, falling off the bone ribs – just the way you love ‘em,” says former Marion County Sheriff John Layton, president of the not-for-profit ISYR.

Rib Teams -- Just Like on National TV!

Layton said “just like on national TV,” rib teams from across the U.S. will offer barbeque pork, beef and chicken, as well as festival favorites like corn-on-the-cob and homemade baked beans topped off with funnel cakes for dessert:

  • Carolina Rib King;
  • Cowboys BBQ;
  • Fine Smoke BBQ;
  • Jack on the Bone BBQ;
  • Johnson’s BBQ;
  • Pigfoot BBQ Cooking Team; and
  • Texas Pit BBQ.

Central Indiana media personalities and Indiana sheriffs will judge the teams during the rain-or-shine, Thursday through Sunday event on North Street between Meridian and Pennsylvania streets, said Putnam County Sheriff Scott Stockton, vice president of ISYR.

“A $5 general admission will allow access to the American Legion Mall, live noontime and evening concerts, shaded seating, clean restrooms and security,” Stockton said. “Food and beverages are extra, but will be affordably priced.”

Cybercrimes experts Ideanomics, presenting sponsor of the All-American Ribfest, has funded free general admissions for all Indiana law enforcement, firefighters, military and veterans, said ISYR Board Secretary and Grant County Sheriff Reggie Nevels. “Simply show your agency ID, American Legion or VFW Post membership card and gain free entry.”

Nevels said for more information on the All-American Ribfest or the Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch, call toll-free 833-IN-RANCH.
