Conner Prairie grounds open for weekend winter experiences

This winter, guests can explore Conner Prairie’s grounds in immersive -- and socially distanced -- ways.

The museum will debut new outdoor experiences Saturday and Sundays this winter with grounds open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. While buildings are closed due to COVID-19, during these special weekends, guests will be welcomed outside for timed outdoor excursions led by a Conner Prairie interpreter, special behind-the-scenes guided tours of the grounds, and whimsical play-based activities for all ages. Timed tickets are required for entry for all experiences as well as for those who would like to just enjoy our grounds.

Through the winter month’s activities will focus around a central theme. In January, Conner Prairie visitors will be immersed into “All Things Cold,” exploring activities such as period survival skills, modern survival skills, trapping and trading, ice archeology, ice fishing, sledding, and more.

February’s events will invite guests to “Enter the Outdoors,” with a winter edition of a nature scavenger hunt, programming that highlights winter animal adaptations, and other cold-weather activities.

In March, Conner Prairie will celebrate the “Change of Seasons,” featuring Story Strolls around the grounds, programming explaining ways to explore nature with all our senses, and how broken things are made like new again.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of guests and staff alike, tickets for our winter experiences must be reserved in advance, with timed entries scheduled to adhere to attendance limitations.
