Indiana Forest Alliance to host Wild & Scenic Film Festival at Skyline

The Indiana Forest Alliance (IFA) is once again hosting its popular Wild & Scenic Film Festival, in a COVID-friendly format.  This year’s event will be held at the Skyline Drive-In Theater in Shelbyville, on Thursday May 20.

Land preservation, environmental justice, water and wildlife are just a few of the topics to be featured in the 14 short-length nature films to be screened.  The event kicks off with Onward Ever: The Becoming of Indiana’s White River, by Brandon Walsh, which examines the future and potential of Indiana’s White River.

“The goal of the film festival is to promote advocacy and education on environmental concerns

that affect us all,” said Morgan Whitacre, IFA's Director of Development. "After having to cancel the festival last year, due to COVID, we are happy to provide a socially-distanced format which will allow  Hoosiers who love Indiana forests to come together for an entertaining and inspiring evening.”

The film festival, which benefits the IFA, is an exciting opportunity to “engage with like-minded people who care about Indiana nature,” said Brown County resident David Seastrom, a member of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival steering committee, and current President of the IFA Board.

Tickets for the event are priced at $40 per car, and $10 for student vehicles.  They can be purchased ahead of time by visiting  www.indianaforestalliance.org or at the Skyline Drive-In on the night of the festival.  Gates will open at 7:30 for outdoor socializing, a raffle and concessions; the screening begins at 9:00 pm.

Sponsors for the event include:

Title Sponsor:  Integrated Program in the Environment at Indiana University Bloomington

Marquee Sponsors:   Wasatch Lake, Caesar’s Entertainment

Feature Sponsor:  Mary Kay Rothert and Tom Zeller; Wild Tecumseh Friends

Media Sponsor: WFHB Bloomington

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival, presented by the IFA, is organized by the South Yuba River

The Indiana Forest Alliance is a non-profit, statewide organization founded in 1996, dedicated to

preserving and restoring Indiana’s native hardwood forest ecosystem for the enjoyment of all.
