Metallica concert sets Bankers Life Fieldhouse record

An audience of 18,274 fans attended Metallica’s WorldWired Tour Monday night in Indianapolis, establishing the largest single-event concert attendance in Bankers Life Fieldhouse history.

Opened in November 1999, Bankers Life Fieldhouse is Indiana’s premier entertainment and sports facility, welcoming more than 1.7 million visitors and hosting more than 550 events annually. The Metallica concert helps reflect the building’s versatility, hosting a record concert crowd less than 24 hours after conducting the five-day Big Ten Conference women’s basketball tournament which ended Sunday evening.

“Bankers Life Fieldhouse has long been known for its status as one of the world’s great basketball arenas,” said Pacers Sports & Entertainment President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Fuson, “and we are also fortunate to host some of the entertainment world’s most diverse and iconic concerts and shows.”

“Hosting Metallica is yet another landmark for our great facility and we are proud to continue welcoming guests in record numbers. The energy in the building was electric last night. We are thankful for our dedicated staff for turning over our great arena so efficiently; and thankful to the Metallica crew, Live Nation, Q-Prime Management and Artist Group International for creating the passionate atmosphere for our record crowd.”
