With the new Shelby County YMCA taking memberships it means the close later for this year for a popular Shelbyville site for better than 30 years.

The Shelby County Athletic Club is on schedule now to merge with the new YMCA.  Owner Ray Schebler says it’s perfect timing for the transition.

SCAC is merging its Silver Sneakers members now with the merger continuing, including many SCAC employees, through the month of October.  Schebler says the move makes sense but it’s still a bittersweet time as SCAC has its final day marked on the calendar at October 31.

SCAC will mark 32 years in business on October 15.

Schebler will still own the building at 24 West Rampart Road.  The future of that site is still to be determined.
