Culver's gets site development plan approval from Plan Commission

The site development plan for a Culver’s restaurant at 1930 N. Morristown Road was unanimously approved Monday by the Plan Commission in Shelbyville.

Under the same ownership as the Culver’s recently constructed in Franklin, Indiana, the Shelbyville restaurant that will sit just north of Cracker Barrel will look similar.

The proposed restaurant, 4,386 square feet with seating for 106, will include eight Tesla electrical charging stations and a large parking area for oversized vehicles.

Getting into the restaurant is not a concern. Getting out is an issue that will need to be addressed with a stop light nearby on State Road 9 and traffic coming from Cracker Barrel and from the north along N. Morristown Road.

Plan Commission president Mike Evans admitted the traffic flow across State Road 9 where a Speedway convenience store and Wendy’s share an entrance is not ideal.

In other Plan Commission business Monday, the site development plan for a proposed urgent care center at 1778 E. State Road 44 was approved.

The .53-acre property is being purchased from Rural King, 1800 E. State Road 44, for development and will sit near Chase Bank, 1828 E. State Road 44.

The urgent care facility is not associated with Major Health Partners.
