Grover Center teaming with Echo Effect to offer History and Canvas event

One of the missions of the Grover Center is to collaborate within the community.

On May 26, the local museum and historical society is offering a History and Canvas fundraising event at 6 p.m. at Echo Effect, 102 E. Washington St., near downtown Shelbyville.

“We have done things with (Echo Effect) in the past in other groups but this is the first time to directly collaborate with them,” said Alex Krach, Executive Director of the Grover Center: Museum and Historical Society.

The relaxed-setting event offers a canvas painting opportunity entitled “Indiana: Home” as well as historical trivia, museum gift shop prizes and snacks.

“It’s a group-led event,” said Krach. “Even if you don’t have any artistic skills, it will be broken down step by step.”

Registration is $35. To sign up, call the Grover Center at 317-392-4634 or go online to eventbrite.com. All art supplies are provided for this event.

All proceeds will benefit the Grover Center, 52 W. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.

The local museum preserves Shelby County History within a 22,000 square-foot building that includes two permanent exhibits and three galleries that change throughout the year.

There is no admission fee to enjoy the museum that has been open since 1981.
