Aaron A. Purtlebaugh, 81, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at VA Region Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.

He was born August 2, 1937, in Shelbyville to Charles and Laura (Rowlett) Purtlebaugh.

He is survived by his daughter, Beth White of Michigan, his son, Darren Purtlebaugh of Pennsylvania, his sisters, Ruth (Clifford) Gaines of Shelbyville; Betty Jo Skidmore of North Carolina, and Mary (Joe) Come of Shelbyville; brothers, Glenn (Judy) Purtlebaugh of Shelbyville; and Dwight Purtlebaugh of Indianapolis, and 2 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Stephen Purtlebaugh, 2 brothers, and 6 sisters.

Mr. Purtlebaugh was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was employed at Horst Inc. for 18 years retiring in 1981.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Edwin Mohr officiating.

Burial will be in Flat Rock Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veterans’ organizations.

Memorial donations may be made to the Aaron Purtlebaugh Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
