Jean Droll, of Shelbyville, passed away on March 17, 2019 at Ashford Place Health Campus, at the age of 95.
She was born January 6, 1924, in Huron, SD. She is survived by her son, William Droll (Brandon, FL), daughters, Janet Hearne (Dennis) Shelbyville, IN and Laurie Daley (Paul) Portland, OR), six grandchildren, William Nichols (Littleton, CO), Patrick Hearne (Spring, TX), David Nichols, (Plainfield, IL), Meagan Hearne (Shelbyville, IN), Melanie Southworth, (Tampa, FL), Finn Daley (Portland, OR) and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Harvey Gould (Dixon, MT).
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Droll and her daughter, Susan Nichols.
Jean was a student in the first cadet nursing classes during WW2. Her nursing career was a source of pride until her retirement when she turned her love of reading into many volunteer hours at local libraries.
She was also an avid fisherman. She grew up in the Northwest, lived many years in Arizona, New Jersey, Illinois, Minnesota, and Indiana. No matter where she lived she could always find a table to play bridge. However, when it came to fishing, the rivers in Oregon were her favorite spots.
Jean is loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
There will be no local services.
Funeral Directors, Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Droll family.
