Nancy Jo "Nan" Wimmer, 72, Shelbyville

Nancy Jo “Nan” Wimmer, 72, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Aperion Waldron Health and Rehab in Waldron.

 

She was born December 2, 1946 in Rushville, the daughter of Joseph Gale and Betha LaVonne (Platt) Wimmer.

 

Nan is survived by her daughters, whom she was very proud of Morgan Nastav and husband, Eric, of Flat Rock, and Blair Stevens and husband, Derek, of Moores Hill; brothers, Tom Wimmer and wife, Dodie, of Noblesville, and David Wimmer and wife, Mary, of Brownstown; grandson, Beau Stevens; and best friend and “adopted sister”, Pat Trefun.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Nan graduated in 1965 from Southwestern High School and attended Ball State University and Indiana State University.

 

She was an artist and enjoyed painting with watercolors. Nan had paintings on display locally and globally in Argentina, Brazil and Germany.

 

Nan was a member of the Shelby County Arts Council and the Southeastern Indiana Art Guild. She formerly taught watercolor at Shelby Senior Services and the Art Center.

 

Nan survived three open heart surgeries, with the first being an experimental procedure in 1959. For this and for the care she received throughout her life, she gives special thanks to her physicians, Dr. Shumaker, Dr. Brown and Dr. Vieira.

 

A celebration of Nan’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at The Rendezvous, 38 E. Washington St. in Shelbyville.

 

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
