Judy Mewborn, 84, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born May 31, 1935, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Gordon and Margaret (Kuntz) Schneider. On June 29, 1957, she married James Murray Mewborn, and he preceded her in death on January 14, 2012.

Judy is survived by a large family which includes her loving children, Dan Mewborn and wife, Teresa, of Indianapolis, Karen Provins and husband, Gary, of Traverse City, Michigan, Mike Mewborn and wife, Jackie, of Carmel, and Steve Mewborn and wife, Stephanie, of Chicago, Illinois; her fun loving sisters, Kathy Law and husband, Jim, of Carmel, Betty Jo Andis and husband, Larry, of Morristown; sisters-in-law, Kathy Schneider of Devon, Pennsylvania, and Judy Schneider of Shelbyville; her grandchildren that she cherished, Jason Mewborn and wife, Maryn, of Orlando, Florida, Joey Mewborn and Matt Mewborn, both of Carmel, Ella Provins and Ava Provins, both of Traverse City, Tom Mewborn, Audrey Mewborn and Mary Mewborn, all of Chicago; and her many nieces and nephews, which she adored.

In addition to James, Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Tom Schneider in 2010 and Bill Schneider in 1999.

Judy attended St. Joseph Elementary School, graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1953, and attended Indiana University.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella St. Rose of Lima Circle No. 79, and St. Ann’s Altar Society.

Judy retired from the cable television office in 1997, with over 20 years of service. She was very social and enjoyed life. Judy loved to spend her time traveling between her children’s homes. She also enjoyed playing bridge.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville.
