Harvey E. Carter, 86, Shelbyville

Harvey E. Carter, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Morristown Manor.

 

He was born May 27, 1933, in Shelbyville, to Harry K. Carter, Sr. and Anna Marie (Dunn) Carter.

 

He married Olena L. Polston on June 20, 1956, and she survives.

 

Mr. Carter is also survived by his daughter, Theresa (David) Martin of Ft. Wayne; daughter, Penny (Carl) Boggs of St. Paul; son, Paul D. (Tam) Carter of Shelbyville; grandson, Jonathan (Teri) Martin of Ft. Wayne; granddaughter, Adrienne Martin (fiancé Josh Raber) of Ft. Wayne; great-grandson, Briggs Martin, of Ft. Wayne; grandson, Ben (Lisa) Boggs; great-granddaughter, Zoey Boggs; grandson, Brandon Boggs; grandson, Kyle (Hannah) Carter; granddaughter, Paige (Richard) Jones; all of Shelbyville.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John Carter and Walt Carter and sister, Sarah Mae Maynard.

 

Mr. Carter was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Fairland High School. 

 

Mr. Carter was a specialist 3rd class in the U.S. Army.  He was a truck driver for over 35 years, After retiring from truck driving, he worked at Bonded Oil.

   

He loved to watch old western movies. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially at family dinners.

  

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor David Martin and Pastor Jonathan Hall officiating.

 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran’s organizations.

  

Funeral Directors, Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Carter family.
