Marjorie Helen Sears, 98, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020
at Walker House.
Born November 18, 1921 in St. Louis , Missouri, she was the daughter of Lester
David Brown and Dorothy Nell (Stanley) Brown.
She was the wife of Rex Sears, who preceded her in death in 2011. They were married
for 71 years.
Marjorie and Rex parented one daughter Carol S. (Sears) Inman of North Carolina. Also
surviving are 2 grandchildren Rebecca S. Strawn and Rex Lee Inman; 8 great grandchildren,
and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and
a daughter Sarah Jane Inman, who passed away in February 2017.
Marjorie and Rex were both certified lay speakers and were members of Philadelphia (Indiana)
Methodist Church. They were both diligent and devoted workers in the church.
Marjorie worked for years researching the family's genealogy and compiled a vast amount of facts
concerning their heritage. She was also a highly inspiring public speaker to social groups. She
focused on the subject of "Laughter. the Best Medication". She was also an artist leaving several paintings,
and a book currently being written and illustrated with her paintings.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Rex, in the Philadelphia (Indiana) Cemetery at a later date.

County Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
