Harry Eugene Pursley, 73, of Shelbyville

Harry Eugene Pursley, 73, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at his home.

 

He was born August 28, 1946, in Shelbyville, the son of Harold G. and Freda (Hermesch) Pursley. On February 3, 1968, he married his wife of 52 years, Terry Joan Walton, and she survives.

 

In addition to Terry, Harry is survived by his son, Thomas Eugene Pursley and wife, April, of Shelbyville; daughter, Tracy Dianne Smith and husband, John, of Waldron; sisters, Shirley Polston of Shelbyville and Sharon Dick of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Thomas Caine, John David Smith II and wife, Brittany, Samantha Sweet and husband, Dillon, Alexia Jones and companion, Brad Douglas, and Aiden Pursley; great-grandchildren, John David Smith III, Avery Grace Smith and Mylee Piercy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Pursley and wife, Tessa; and brothers-in-law, Ted Polston and Jack Dick.

 

He was a member of Word of Life Fellowship in Shelbyville.

 

Harry graduated in 1964 from Morristown High School.

 

He retired from Knauf Fiberglass in 2008, with 38 years of service.

 

Harry was a member of the Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 766, Moose Lodge No. 2118 and the Shelbyville Knights of Columbus.

 

He enjoyed playing golf, treasure hunting and working on lawn mowers.

 

Harry also leaves behind his dog, Jetson.

 

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the funeral home, with Paul Stevens officiating.

 

Interment will be at Concord Cemetery in Shelby County. Immediately following, there will be a Celebration of Harry’s life at 2468 S. Miller Avenue in Shelbyville.
