Dorthy May Fralich, 87, of Waldron

Dorthy May Fralich, 87, of Waldron passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

 

She was born August 2, 1932, in Austin, the daughter of Glenn and Gladys (Bundren) Helms. On September 9, 1951, she married her husband of 68 years, Philip Fralich, and he survives.

 

In addition to Philip, Dorthy is survived by her son, Gary Fralich and wife, Marcella, of Waldron; sisters, Linda Kessie of Florida, and Yvonne Sprong of Nashville; grandchildren, Matt Fralich and wife, Amanda, Sarah Stohry and husband, Sy, Jeff Fralich, Susan Board and husband, Jeff, Marsha Apsley and husband, Kent, and Mike Redelman and wife, Jessica; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Fralich; sister, Henrietta Schoentrup; and brother, Carl Helms.

 

Dorthy graduated in 1950 from Greenfield High School.

 

She was a very active member of Waldron Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a Deacon.

 

Dorthy formerly worked as a receptionist at the State Bank of Waldron.

 

She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.

 

Dorthy enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She had an extensive collection of dolls and thimbles.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 20,2020 and from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Waldron Baptist Church, 112 Grant St. in Waldron.

 

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the church, with Rev. David Scaggs officiating.

 

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

 

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
