Millie Maxine Bruner, 82, of Shelbyville

Millie Maxine Bruner, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Heritage House Convalescent Center.

Born November 14, 1937 in Grayson County Kentucky, she was the daughter of Willard Higdon and Rhea Higdon.  She married Robert John "Bob" Bruner on July 5, 1958 and he preceded her on July 29, 1973.

Survivors include 2 daughters- Sandy Kim (husband John) of Chino Hills, California, Jackie Bond of Shelbyville; 5 siblings- Conroy Higdon (wife Charlotte) of Shelbyville, Curly Bradley of Kentucky, Leonard Higdon of Edinburgh, Vangie Harsh (husband Dwight) of Ogilville, Vada Sweet (husband Melvin) of Kentucky; 16 grandchildren,  and 25 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, 4 children- Kathy Chaney, Becky Elliott, Robbie Bruner, Angie Bruner, a sister Christine Branson, and a grandson Bradley Elliott.

Mrs. Bruner had lived most of her lifetime in this area, and graduated from Mt. Auburn High School.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and had been a factory worker at several local factories for many years, and also provided home health care.

Her husband Bob was the love of her life, who  gave his life helping a drowning young man.

Millie was the epitome of strength and resilience, and the ultimate care giver.  After her

husband passed at age 33, she raised 6 young girls virtually on her own, and cared for 3

of her own daughters throughout their battle with Huntington's Disease.  She loved and raised

her grandchildren as if they were her own, and was the tower of strength when her daughter

Becky was tragically murdered.  She was everyone's mom and grandma, always putting everyone's

needs before her own.  She was a woman of God, her faith never waivered, and was truly an

angel on earth.  We will miss her giggly laugh, her painted fingernails, how she twittled her

thumbs like Mammie, and the way she wore her tied up overshirts.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral

Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America or the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.
