The landscape of one Hancock County school board will be seeing a change immediately. 

The Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County is seeking a new member following the recent and sudden resignation of board member Craig Wagoner, who is moving out of the district. Wagoner has served on the board for seven years and his term was set to expire Dec. 31, 2022.

The board will appoint a new member to serve the end of the term, and Wagoner’s seat will be up for grabs in the election of November 2022.

Wagoner was appointed to the board in June 2013 before winning elections in 2014 and 2018.

Anyone interested in running must be a registered voter in the school district, be 21 years old, and have lived in either District 1 or 2 for a minimum of three years. Furthermore, anyone interested cannot be a current employee in the district.

Applications must be received by August 6 and interviews will be held during an open board session on Aug. 17.  Anyone interested in applying should send a letter of interest with an application to Amber Rush, Board Secretary, 4711 S. 500 West, PO Box 518, New Palestine, IN 46163.
