Gretchen Delay, 45 of Rush County, passed away on August 2, 2020 in Rush County. S

he was born on December 3, 1974 in Shelby County to Gary and Millie (Baker) Hamner. Gretchen was a 1993 graduate of Waldron High School and she then went onto to Franklin College receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

She married Roy Delay on June 28, 1997 and he survives.

Gretchen enjoyed teaching in Rushville Elementary School and Mays Community Academy. She taught 5th grade, Science, and then moved onto the STEM activities. Gretchen truly enjoyed teaching. She was known for her love of country music, dancing, and the farm life with her family.

Gretchen is survived by her parents, husband and sons, Shawn Delay and Nathan Delay both of Rush County; fur-baby, Max; brother, Grant (Laura) Hamner; nieces and nephews, Brittany (Anthony) Muir, Samantha Hittson, Seth Eads, Hannah Eads, Alexis Eads, Ryan Eads and Owen Eads.

Gretchen is preceded in death by her grandparents, aunt, and uncle.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10 AM in Glen Cove Cemetery.
