Janice Ann Denton, 69, of Shelbyville

Janice Ann Denton, 69, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at her residence.


Born April 28, 1951 in Greensburg Indiana, she was the daughter of Robert Denton Platt and Lena
Elizabeth (Ford) Platt.  She married John Edward Denton on April 24, 1976 and he preceded her on
April 24, 2018.


Survivors include 2 sisters- Karen White (husband Jerry) of Shelbyville, Rita Dale (husband Tom) of
Hamilton, Illinois; 3 nephews- Scott T. Dale (wife Adeana), Colin A. Johns (wife Stacy), Brent M. Dale; 1 niece Erin E. Johns; 2 great nephews- Cameron J. Dale, Charles D. Johns; 2 great nieces- Vivian R. Johns, Camille S. Johns; and maternal uncle Marlin Ford (wife Rosemary).  She was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse.

 

Mrs. Denton was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Greensburg Community High School in 1969. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls  of Indiana, Order of Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Classy Ladies Hat Club, and had served as Clerk- Treasurer for the town of St. Paul for several years.  She had been employed as auditor/cashier/slot attendant for Comfort Inn and Indiana Live Grand Casino for 21 years, retiring in 2013.


Janice loved going to the casino, and working with VFW District 7 business.


Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with visitation there from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Rev. Dawn Barnes will officiate, and burial will be in Whispering Hope Cemetery.
