Janet Lee (Daniel) Yancey, 61, of Shelbyville

Janet Lee (Daniel) Yancey, 61, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.

 

She was born on May 8, 1959, in Augusta, Georgia, the daughter of William Thomas Sr. and Dolores (Redd) Daniel. On August 4, 1987, she married her husband of 33 years, Clifford A. “Cliff” Yancey, and he survives.

 

In addition to Cliff, Janet is survived by her parents of Augusta, Georgia; sons, Jason Michael “Mike” DeLaney of Williston, South Carolina, and Damron A. “Ron” Yancey of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughters, Jessica R. Yancey and Monshelle N. “Nikki” Yancey, both of Greenwood; brothers, William Thomas Daniel, Jr., and Stephen Thomas Daniel, both of Augusta; sister, Dana D. Garrett and husband, Kevin, of Evans, Georgia; grandchildren, Caitlyn E. Yancey, Jaiden O. Yancey, Tyce A. Yancey, Mia A. Linn, Victoria A. Powell, Alexandria M. Powell and Micah A. Yancey; father-in-law, Merrill “Itdus” Yancey, Sr., of Pine Knot, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews including Trevor Garrett, Tanner Garrett and Taylor Garrett.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary Jane (Ritter) Yancey.

 

Janet attended Butler High School and continued her education in medical billing and accounting.

She attended the Baptist Church.

 

Janet was a bank teller for Fifth Third, PNC and Shelby County Banks. Later she worked in medical billing for Dr. Joseph Moheban.

 

Janet was an exceptional cook. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, going shopping and spending time at the beach. Janet cherished the time she spent and the memories she created, with her loving family.

 

Janet loved animals. She also leaves behind her dog, Pippa and was preceded in death by her dog, Clariece.

 

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the funeral home, with Rev. Scott Yancey officiating.
