Catherine M. Snyder, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Keepsake Village in Columbus.

She was born January 22, 1925, in Waldron, the daughter of Benjamin Weidner and Sallie (Shaw) Weidner Fuchs. On February 16, 1946, she married David H. Snyder, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2006.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Janis Hagerty of Columbus; son, John D. Snyder and wife, Alice, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, Dana (Hagerty) Salgado and husband, Abner, and Brian Hagerty; great-grandson, Nathan Hagerty and wife, Krista; great-great-grandchildren, Paisley, Piper and Kaylee; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to David, Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, D. Claudine Ellington and Florine Bentley.

Catherine graduated in 1943 from Waldron High School.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville.

Catherine was a homemaker and was known for her delicious pies and noodles.

She was the loving wife of a dedicated fireman of 40 plus years for the Shelbyville Indiana Fire Department. Catherine was active in the Fireman’s Auxiliary for many years.

Catherine enjoyed watching the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
