John C. Garlitch, Jr., 73, of St. Paul

John C. Garlitch, Jr., 73, of St. Paul, passed away October 8, 2020 at MHP Medical Center.

 

Born December 18, 1946 in Shelbyville, he was the son of John C. Garlitch and Sarah (Nugent)

Garlitch.  He married Bonnie (Thurston) Garlitch on October 15, 1966 and she survives.

 

Other survivors include 2 sons- Mike Garlitch (companion Stacy Harmon) of Jennings County, 

John C. Garlitch III (wife Susan) of St. Paul; a brother Mark Garlitch (wife Melanie) of St. Paul;

4 grandchildren- Nicole Moorman, John Garlitch IV, Kristopher Garlitch, Kameron Garlitch; and

5 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Mr. Garlitch was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1965.

He had been a self employed farmer, barber, and factory worker, cutting hair at Coulston's  Barber 

Shop for 8 years and retiring from KCL Corp. after 23 years of service.  He was a lifelong member

 of the West Side Wesleyan Church of Shelbyville,  where he served as Sunday School Superintendent

for many years, and was a US Navy veteran serving in Vietnam

 

John enjoyed farming, building model trains, coon hunting, horseback riding, and spending time with

his family and grandchildren.

  

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Monday, October 12, 2020 at West Side Wesleyan Church, 

535 Dunn Avenue, with Pastor Richard Poe officiating.  Burial will be in Lewis Creek Cemetery. 

Friends may call on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,

437 Amos Road.  A military graveside service will be conducted by a local veterans organization.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the West Side Wesleyan Church, in care of the funeral home.
