Rickey Jay "Rick" Crosby, 72, of Shelbyville

Rickey Jay “Rick” Crosby, 72, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.

 

He was born August 31, 1948, in Shelbyville, the son of Carl R. “Bob” and Billie Lou (Rapp) Crosby. On June 28, 1998, he married his wife of 22 years, Virginia O. “Gingi” Branson, and she survives.

In addition to Gingi, Rick is survived by his children, Tracey Tucker and husband, Vince, of Shelbyville, Todd Crosby and wife, Jean, of Carmel, Trisha Tackett and husband, David, of Shelbyville, Carrie V. Gray and husband, Jason, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Andrew S. Fansler and wife, Carmen, of Shelbyville; sister, Kathy Pool and husband, Bob, of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Alexis Tackett, Austin Tucker, Jaidyn Tackett, Molly Crosby, Warren Gray, Hannah Crosby, Tanner Gray, Abby Tucker, Anne Marie Fansler and Mollie Fansler.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Rick graduated in 1966 from Shelbyville High School and attended Barber College and Real Estate School.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, serving from 1967 to 1973.

 

Rick was a member of the First Christian Church.

 

He was formerly a barber, at his father’s barber shop, Crosby’s Barber Shop and sold real estate at Herthel-VanNatta Real Estate. Rick also formerly worked at the Horseshoe and Mirage Casinos in Las Vegas and for Eli Lilly. He retired in 2016.

 

Rick was a past member of the Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 766, Moose Lodge No. 2118 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.

 

He loved his granddogs.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the First Christian Church, 118 W. Washington St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Bill Horner and Beth Crouch officiating.

 

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
