Janis L. Shepherd, 82, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Cypress Run in Morristown.

She was born March 31, 1938, in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Willie Lawrence and Cora (Bell) Turner. On October 17, 1958, she married her husband of 62 years, Franklin D. “Frank” Shepherd, and he survives.

In addition to Frank, Janis is survived by her daughter, Tammi Atwood and husband, Travis, of Waldron; son, Kim Shepherd and companion, Hang “Ty” Duong, of Orlando, Florida; brothers, Robert Turner and wife, Velma, of Monticello, Kentucky, Kenneth Turner and wife, Teresa, of Ohio, Roger Turner and wife, Patsy, of Alabama, Larry Turner and wife, Ann, of Shelbyville, and Lawrence Turner and wife, Irene, of Muncie; sisters, Diana Branscum of Monticello, Kentucky, and Norma Cagle and husband, Arthur, of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Morgan Atwood, Anthony Atwood, Arianna Shepherd and Jonathon Shepherd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joan Westerfield; and brother, Gary Turner.

Janis attended Calvary Baptist Church.

She retired from Enbi in 2003.

Janis enjoyed reading and tending to her flower gardens.

She loved creating memories with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2020 at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.

Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
