Helen B. Morningstar, 80, of Shelbyville

Helen B. Morningstar, 80, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Timber Creek Village in Shelbyville.

 

She was born June 17, 1940, in Grant County, Kentucky, the daughter of William Howard and Mabel Lee (Orsborne) Smith. On December 12, 1964, she married Robert G. Morningstar, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2005.

 

Helen is survived by her daughters, Tammy Huesman and husband, Bill, and Rhonda Bennett and husband, Michael, both of Shelbyville; son, Craig Morningstar and wife, Sandy, of Shelbyville; sister, Brenda Williams and husband, Marvin, of Murphy, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke VanVelse and husband, Ryan, Corey Huesman, Tawni Morningstar, Brittany Rush, Cameron Morningstar and Jacob Morningstar; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Taylor and husband, Jacob, Caroline Rush, Gracelynn Rush, Will VanVelse and Emma Rush; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to Robert, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Drucilla Dennison; and a brother, Harold Smith.

 

Helen graduated in 1958 from Moral Township High School.

 

She was a member of Baptist Temple Church.

 

Helen was formerly a motor route carrier for the Indianapolis Star from 1980 to 1996, she worked at the Tippecanoe Press from 1967 to 1984, and later was the assistant manager of Village Pantry in Shelbyville from 1996 to 2001. She also was a dog groomer.

 

She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and word searches. Helen also enjoyed picking berries and hickory nuts. Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She loved dogs.

 

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Freeman Family

Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ed Mohr officiating.

 

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
