John E. Hungate, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020
at MHP Medical Center.
Born March 13, 1949 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Everett L. Hungate and
Thelma L. (Roberts) Hungate.
Survivors include one son Andrew Hungate (fiance Cylie Collins) of Shelbyville;
4 grandchildren- Makaila, Kalob, Whitney, and Ashtin. He is also survived by
several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother
Bill Hungate, and a sister Carolyn Johns.
Mr. Hungate had lived in this area his entire lifetime, and graduated from Waldron
High School. He had been a factory worker at PK USA for several years and had
previously been a driver for Air Products for several years. He also served in the
US Army National Guard.
John enjoyed the Indy 500 and car racing, talking politics, visiting with neighbors
and friends, spending time with his grandkids, and helping anyone out the needed
a hand.
Services will be at 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Glenn E. George
and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Jimmy Hungate officiating. Friends
may call on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.
