John Thomas Barlow, 80, of Boggstown

John Thomas Barlow, 80, of Boggstown passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.

 

He was born February 21, 1940, in Lawrenceburg, the son of Leonard and LaVern (Bishop) Barlow. On April 2, 1993, he married his wife of 27 years, Virginia J. “Jinny” Bass.

 

In addition to Jinny, John is survived by his children, Julie Dagle and husband, William, of Keller, Texas, Jennifer Kaczor and husband, Adrian, of Delray Beach, Florida, George Michael Alley and wife, Jean, of Oxford, and Diana Hughes and husband, Dan, of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Lauren Kavanaugh, Isabella Kaczor, Harrison Dagle, Ethan Dagle, Callan Hughes and Maddie Hughes; brothers-in-law, Glenn V. Bass and wife, Pam, and James Edgar “Jeb” Bass, and wife, Lynn, both of Fairland; and five nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

John graduated in 1958 from Lawrenceburg Consolidated High School.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War.

 

John formerly worked for Husman, Frito Lay and Pepperidge Farm, as a vendor. In later life, he was also a farmer.

 

He enjoyed traveling to Florida.

 

John was very proud of restoring his 1937 Chevy from a dragster to a show car.

 

Private family services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Due to COVID-19, friends and family are invited to attend virtually at https://www.facebook.com/freemanfamilyfuneralhomes on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11 a.m.

 

Interment will follow at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
