Robert Scott "Bob" Parker, 87, of Shelbyville

Robert Scott “Bob” Parker, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.

 

He was born October 4, 1933, in Shelbyville, the son of Lawrence D. and Frances (Scott) Parker. On August 25, 1957, he married his wife of 63 years, Betty Kelley, and she survives.

 

In addition to Betty, Bob is survived by his sons, Randall Scott Parker of Fishers, and Christopher Scott Parker and wife, Jennifer, of Whiteland; grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Payton and Baylee; and several nieces and a nephew.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Phyllis Jean Miller.

 

Bob graduated in 1951 from Shelbyville High School and attended Indiana University for one year.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

 

Bob was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where he served on various boards.

He retired in 1990, from the U.S. Postal Service, after 30 years of service.

 

Bob was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 70, Shelbyville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2695 and a 50-year member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge No. 28 F&AM.

 

He enjoyed going on bicycle rides and stopping to visit with people.

 

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with Bruce Banister officiating.

 

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the local military committee.

 

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
