Joseph William Wasson, 91, of Waldron

Joseph William Wasson, 91, of Waldron, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at

Walker House.

 

Born February 26, 1929 in Shelby County, he was the son of Clarence & Jessie Wasson.

 

Survivors include several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother 

Harlan Wasson.

 

Mr. Wasson was a lifelong resident of this area, and had been a factory worker at KCL Corp.

in Shelbyville, retiring after many years of service.  He graduated from Waldron High School,

and was an 80 year member of the Waldron Baptist Church, serving in several capacities

including deacon, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, was a  VBS volunteer, and food pantry co-manager.  He was also a member of the Waldron Masonic Lodge, Flat Rock Men's Association, and many numerous other organizations he was involved in and volunteered for.  He was a US Army veteran.

 

Joe was an avid Waldron Mohawk fan, attending all the basketball and volleyball games, and was

 awarded Mohawk "Fan of the Year".  His mark in life was to serve others. 

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Waldron Baptist Church, 112 E. Grant Street, with Pastor David Scaggs officiating.   Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by a local veterans organization.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until the time of the service.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to Waldron Athletic Booster fund, Shelby County Cancer Association,  or Shelby Senior Services, in care of the funeral home.
