Janet Lee Howell, 71, of Shelbyville

Janet Lee Howell, 71, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Walker House in Shelbyville.

 

She was born November 26, 1949, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Delbert and Mildred (Smith) Pittsenbarger.

 

Janet is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Waldsmith and husband, William, of Shelbyville, Betty Lyle and husband, Charles, of Fountaintown, and Diane Branson and husband, Mike, of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, James Waldsmith, Leslie Kent and husband, Shawn, Jason Branson and wife, Melissa, Brian Branson and wife, Dawna, Daniel Lyle and fiance’, Sabrina, and Sharon Lyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Christopher Waldsmith.

 

Janet graduated in 1968 from Morristown High School.

 

She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Fountaintown.

 

Janet retired from the State office building, Department of Natural Resources, with 43 years of service.

 

She enjoyed traveling, especially going on sister trips. Janet also enjoyed socializing with her friends at McDonalds. Janet was also a member of St. Joe's Social Club, which she enjoyed attending when she could.

 

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Johnny Lee Sanders officiating.

Interment will be at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.

 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed. There will be a limit of 25 people allowed inside the funeral home at a time.
