Christine Catherine Laird, 89, of Morristown passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Walker House in Shelbyville.
She was born October 13, 1931, in Shelby County, the daughter of Russell W. and Mildred G. (Kuhn) Coers. On June 11, 1950, she married Robert H. Laird, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2018.
Christine is survived by her sons, Anthony W. Laird and wife, Kerri, of Manilla, and Roger D. Laird of Morristown; daughter, Susan L. Kuhn and husband, Rex, of Morristown; sister, Nancy Brazier and husband, David, of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Stacy Rouse, Benjamin R. Kuhn and wife, Megan, Russell T. Kuhn and wife, Danielle, Tara L. Griffith and husband, Jay, Mary C. Knepp and husband, Joas, Emily C. Laird and Aaron Gobel and wife, Teresa; great-grandchildren, Brooke Kuhn, Jo Kuhn, Jack Kuhn, Samantha Kuhn, Hannah Rouse, Mollie Rouse, Kyra Springman, Parker Springman, Alex Gobel, Abby Gobel, Micah Price and husband, Adam, and Logan Vogler; sister-in-law, Susan Coers of Shelbyville; three nieces and one nephew.
In addition to Robert, Christine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda L. Mann; brother, Nile D. Coers; and granddaughter, Briana Springman.
Christine was a 1949 graduate of Shelbyville High School.
She was lifetime member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 46 years. Christine was a member of Psi Iota Xi.
Christine was the corporation treasurer for Shelbyville Central Schools from 1949 to 1969, and for Shelby Eastern Schools from 1969 until retiring in 1997.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at noon at the church.
Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Shelby County.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed.
