Nancy A. Ratekin, 78, a lifelong Rush County resident passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at her home in Rushville. Nancy was born in Rushville on January 26, 1942 to the late William A. and Virginia Mae (Gallimore) Shanahan.
Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Rushville High School. She married Rex Ratekin on August 29, 1964 and he survives. Nancy was Deputy Clerk-Treasurer under Max Fancher and worked at Copeland for 25 years and several years at Winkerby’s. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Nancy enjoyed working with and arranging flowers, and was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by 3 sons, Mark A. (Kathy) Ratekin of Carmel, IN, Denis M. (Patricia) Ratekin of Shelbyville, Pete R. (Chante’) of Rushville, a daughter, Allana Marie (Brian) Edwards of Palm Bay, FL, a brother, Philip E (Linda) Shanahan of Sexton, a sister, Rose Marie (Robert) Houze of Rushville and 10 grandchildren.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rushville. Father James Brockmeier will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4-7 PM Wednesday January 20 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
