Janet S. Jewell, 68, of Edinburgh

Janet S. Jewell, 68, of Edinburgh passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Franciscan Hospice House in Greenwood.

 

She was born April 23, 1952, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Robert E. and Alberta Louise (Owens) Branson. She married her husband of 48 years, James Robert “Bob” Jewell, and he survives.

In addition to Bob, Janet is survived by her children, Mark Jewell and wife, Melissa, of Edinburgh, Kimberly Fowler of New Castle, and Brad Jewell and wife, Amy, of Franklin; brothers, James Branson and Kenneth Branson, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kirsten Hibbard and husband, Brandon, Austin Linville, Lauren Smith, Evan Jewell, Emma Smith, Conner Jewell, Audrey Jewell, Eli Jewell and Peyton Fowler; great-grandchildren, Caroline Hibbard and Lincoln Hibbard, and one on the way; and a loving extended family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Branson; and sister, Phyllis Behrends.

 

Janet graduated in 1970 from Southwestern High School, and attended Ball State University for one year.

 

She was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church.

 

Janet enjoyed playing the piano, researching genealogy and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

 

She loved her family and enjoyed the time spent creating memories with them.

 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, March, 4, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with Porter Riner officiating. Interment will be at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County.
