Maerose Headlee, 93, former Shelbyville resident

Maerose Headlee, 93, former Shelbyville resident, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Park Valley Inn Health Care in Round Rock, Texas.

 

She was born October 10, 1927 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Clarence Oren Farthing and Thelma Louise (Poore) Farthing.  Maerose was six years old when her mother passed away.  Her father later married Marie Tennessee Sneed who raised her as her own.

 

Maerose was a long-time member of Grace Wesleyan Church, formerly First Pilgrim Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang, served as an officer in the Wesleyan Women’s International, and demonstrated her love for others through her card ministry.  Maerose had a servant’s heart, always doing things around the church that no one saw.

  

She married Cyril B. Headlee on August 9, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2014.  Maerose is survived by her daughters, Dora Hudgins, of Texas, Catherine Headlee, and Linda (Greg) Martin, both of Shelbyville; her grandchildren, Rodney (Heather) Williams, Sandy (James) Hughes, Scarlett Herzog, Will (Ashley) Munsel, Jette (Ryan) McCormick, and Ross (Kasia) Martin; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Waggoner Shipp and Tee Yeager Brecto; and foster son, Adrian Gearhart.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Harold Conway, Albert Conway, and George Stanley Farthing, her sister, Margaret Conway Duckett, her daughter, Ella Williams Canfield, her son-in-law, Edgar Hudgins Sr., her granddaughter, Heather Munsel, and her grandsons, Walter Munsel II, and Edgar Hudgins Jr.

 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Grace Wesleyan Church, 56 E. Franklin St., Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Harvey Weaver and Rev. Jose Rivera officiating.

 

Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

 

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Mrs. Headlee’s family.
