Sara Jane "Salli" (Pasco) Williams, 77, Greenfield

Sara Jane “Salli” (Pasco) Williams, 77, Greenfield, passed away gently in her sleep on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

 

She was born on February 15, 1944 in Indianapolis to Charles and Marianne (Wertenberger) Pasco.

Salli obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Ball State University in Library Science and her Teaching Certificate from DePauw University. She was a dedicated educator who loved her students. She began her career in Broadripple and then spent two years in Hawaii as the elementary school librarian. After a break to raise her family, she returned to teaching for 30+ years at Eastern Hancock School Corporation, where she taught art and helped to initiate the county traveling school art shows. She was a member of Hancock County Art Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Tri Kappa.

Salli dedicated her life to The Girl Scouts. She was Hancock County’s self proclaimed “oldest” Girl Scout. She was a member of the Hoosier Capitol Girl Scouts, a service unit director, and spent many summers as camp director at Dellwood Girl Scout Camp. She received numerous awards and was most proud of receiving the prestigious Anna M Ridge Award in 1993.

Salli was a member of Greenfield’s First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid lover of cats, books, quilting, and the Cubs team.

Salli is survived by her loving children: Emily Williams (husband, Matthew Rosenthal) and William H. Williams; grandchildren: Samantha Williams, Oscar Williams, Tyson Williams, Yebanesh Williams, and Reuben Williams; brother, David (Janice) Pasco; sister-in-law, Joan Pasco; nieces: Jennifer Beck and Patty Pasco; nephew, R.J. Pasco; great-nephews: Levi Pasco and David Jett Pasco; aunt, Barbara Wertenberger; and cousins: Eddie Yarnell, Steve Yarnell, Susan Brooks, and Jane Keith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard J. Pasco; and cousin, Stan Wertenberger.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, IN.

 

The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Paulson officiating.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock Service Unit Girl Scouts.
