Jeffery Wayne "Jeff" Hoban, 66, of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly of Waldron

Jeffery Wayne “Jeff” Hoban, 66, of Aurelia, Iowa, formerly of Waldron passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, at Mercy One Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

 

He was born January 21, 1955, in Franklin, the son of Jerry Wayne and Opal Louise (Smith) Hoban. He married Leesa Marie Posz on November 28, 1975, and she survives.

 

In addition to Leesa, Jeff is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Hoban) Sangwin of Aurelia; brother, Mark Hoban of Blue Ridge; sister, Cathy Cook of Columbus; grandchildren, Dalton Sangwin of Peterson, Iowa, Josephine Embacher and Brian Embacher, both of Amboy, Minnesota; nieces, Chelsea Preston of Shelbyville, and Jennifer Vaughn of Columbus; nephew, Jason Hoban of Valparaiso.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Jeff was a 1973 graduate of North Decatur High School.

 

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1976 to 1980.

 

Jeff was a member of Zion Evangelical Church.

 

He formerly worked at Federal Mogual in Greensburg for 30 years, then for GMI, and retired in 2020 from First Cooperative Association.

 

Jeff was also a member of the Grashoff McManus American Legion Post No. 390 of Aurelia. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter.

 

Jeff enjoyed riding his motorcycle and showing his restored 1971 Javlin at car shows.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, at the funeral home, with Pastor Brad Schultz officiating.

 

Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
