Frank Russell Sr., 84

Frank Russell Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Francis

Hospital in Greenwood, Indiana on October 12th, 2021 at 84 years of age.

 

Frank was born on September 11th, 1937 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to parents

Elijah and Monnie (Carpenter) Russell. Frank was the oldest of six children

growing up in Cabin Creek, West Virginia.

 

Frank was an active duty member of the United States Navy from 1956-1958 and an inactive member from 1959-1962.

 

After exiting the Navy he did construction work and various automotive work.

He married Lois (Butcher) Russell on October 22nd, 1994 in Boggstown, Indiana

and she preceded him in death. Frank was a member of the American Legion for

several years. Frank loved to enjoy life and live it to the fullest, and had many hobbies over his 84 years.

 

He loved to write and perform music. He loved playing his guitar for anyone who would listen. In his younger days Frank enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends.

 

Over his life he so much enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.

In his later years he enjoyed watching westerns and listening to classic country music.

 

Frank is survived by his siblings: 3 sisters, Dorothy (Steven) Cockerham of Shelbyville; Wanda Woods of Cabin Creek, West Virginia; Jaennette Russell of Hamilton, Ohio; and  brother Glen (Susan) Russell of Cabin Creek, West Virginia. He is also survived by his children: daughter Tina Harmon of Boggstown; daughter Amy (Larry)McDowell of St. Paul; daughter Anna (Russell) Moore of Frankfort; son Frank Russell Jr. of Shelbyville; son Sam (Colleen) Russell of Chesterton; daughter Linda (Junior) Smith of Cloverdale and daughter Diane Garrett of Fairland. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

 

Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Butcher) Russell; his parents Elijah and Monnie (Carpenter) Russell; his siblings; sister Carol (Larry) Gaye and brother Kenneth (Linda) Russell; sons Johnny Russell and Steven Schoolcraft; and grandsons Mikey Smith and  Timothy Wetter.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, October 22, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd with Rev. David Humphrey officiating.

 

A military graveside service will follow at Boggstown Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
