Jackie Berlin "Jack" Thurman, 75, of Edinburgh

Jackie Berlin “Jack” Thurman, 75, of Edinburgh passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at Richard L. Roudebush, VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.

 

He was born June 25, 1946 in Somerset, KY to William “Bud” Thurman and Louise (Pickett) Thurman.

  

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.  Jack enjoyed working in the barn and getting all set up for his different projects.  He was always staying busy especially with work, whether it be splitting wood or doing lawn care.  He drove a dump truck and a semi for many years.  Although he was a hard worker and could often be found tinkering, his favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandbabies.

 

He married Betty (Dyer) Thurman on December 25, 1981, and she survives.

 

Jack is also survived by his daughters, Joetta Adams (Craig Robertson); and Shannon Hackworth, his sons, Charles Hackworth (Sheila); Lester Thurman (Kristy); and Robert Thurman (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Brady Hackworth, Kirk Adams (Brandi), Dereck Adams, Kayla Hackworth (Collin Clevenger), Kali Moore, Autumn Weaver (Blake), Jenna Hackworth, and Kylan Hackworth-Callahan; his great-grandson, Jayden Adams, his brothers, Gary Thurman (Gladys); and David “Butch” Thurman (Janet); his sister, JoAnn McIntosh, and his puppy dog, JJ Thurman.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Floyd Hackworth, his grandson, Joshua DeWayne Bailey, and his brothers, Jimmy Thurman, William “Bill” Thurman, and Johnny Thurman.

 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m, Monday, October 25, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the funeral home with Reverend James Thurman officiating.

 

Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran organizations.

 

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Jack’s family.
