John E. Eck, 94, of Shelbyville

John E. Eck, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

 

He was born September 10, 1927 in Shelby County to John Eck and Mae (Heifner) Eck.

 

He married Clara (Harper) Eck on December 14, 1946 and she preceded him in death on September 13, 2014.   Both were members of the Bible Holiness Church of Shelbyville.

 

Mr. Eck is survived by his son, Larry W. Eck (wife, Peggy) and his children, Melaina Jackson, Amber Coss, John L. Eck, and Erika Swanson; his son, Gary J. Eck (wife, Monica) and their children, Jonathan Eck and Jessica Pinder, and John’s 12 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.

 

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in WWII where he obtained the rank of Sergeant.

 

Mr. Eck loved being outdoors.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman since he was a young boy.  He had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 

Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Smith officiating.

 

Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery with military honors conducted by local veteran organizations.

 

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Mr. Eck’s family.
