He was very instrumental in creating the football program for the Boys Club.

Joseph also ran for County Commissioner.

In his younger years, he coached baseball for his sons. He loved the outdoors, joking with family and friends, bowling, and being creative as an artist. He even owned another business with his second wife, Ramona; R & J Services. Joseph and Ramona were members of Realife Church.

Adams, Dr. David (Dr. Cindy) Adams, Daniel (Lisa) Adams, and Julie (Brian) Crowley; step-children: Aubrey (Mark) Scutchfiled, Charles Clayton (Chelsea) Hancock, and Jessica Hancock; sisters: Myrtle Curtis and Pauline Bartle; 11 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and faithful four-legged companion, Patch.
