Robert E. Zike, 71, of Flat Rock, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

He was born July 23, 1950, in Seymour. On June 6, 1994, he married Anna “Faye” Pennington, and she survives.

In addition to Faye, Robert is survived by his daughters, Sharon Malone and husband, Scott, of North Vernon, Anna Marie Malone of Connersville, and Janice Lynn Pennington and husband, Oakley, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Oakley J. Pennington and Cassandra Pennington; great-granddaughter, Madison; two sisters; and two brothers.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.

He graduated in 1968 from Freetown High School, and attended Vincennes University.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 32 years and the American Legion.

He retired in January of 2007, as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic, having worked at Cummins Engine for six years.

Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Graveside services will be at 10 am, Monday, November 22, 2021, in Norristown Cemetery.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
